Copper Chain Maille Head Dress with Californite (Happy Camp Jade)

This stunning one-of-a-kind, Renaissance inspired head dress is hand-crafted from nearly 1,400 solid copper rings, using a combination of chain maille weaves.

The main circlet of this piece is crafted using the European 4-1 weave. It is supported by 8 strands of Half-Persian 3-1 weave that connect to a central ring at the top of the head dress. There are 3 strands of 1-1 chain, of varying lengths, strung on the back of the piece, that are adorned with Californite beads. The circlet also features 3 beaded dangles across the back of the piece.

I used Californite (aka Vesuvianite, Idocrase, or locally known as Happy Camp Jade) beads to adorn the piece because I think the green tone of the beads goes well with the copper. The beads were made from Californite that was mined locally in Happy Camp, California by South Fork Mining.
