“Gecko” Sponge Anodized Titanium Ball Bearings – 10 pack

I am pleased to announce that in collaboration with my friends at Steampunk Garage, I am now able to bring you these beautiful anodized titanium ball bearings, done in my signature “Gecko” style.

These are custom made from medical/aeronautical Grade 5 titanium. They are low-density, high strength, lightweight, corrosion resistant, and 100% hypoallergenic.

Each bearing is anodized individually “in-house”, using a combination of sponge and dip anodizing, so no two look alike. The colors created by the sponge anodizing include gold, violet, teal, and green. The bearings are sponged all around, and then they are dipped into an anodizing bath at a low voltage to fill the remaining voids with a deep purple, creating a dazzling blend of vibrant colors. These are very challenging to anodize and as a result, there will be variations in colors from bearing to bearing. This is the nature and beauty of these and should not be seen as a defect.

Please note that the color on these ball bearings is affected by oils. If after handling, the color on the bearing looks lighter or faded, simply wash it in hot soapy water and allow it to air dry. The anodized layer does not penetrate the metal and can be scratched by hard surfaces, revealing the raw metal beneath. Care should be taken to preserve the quality of your bearings.
