Scale Maille Banner – Inner Strength Rune

This large scale maille banner is handcrafted from over 600 large anodized aluminum scales and a total of 1,700 bright aluminum rings in 4 sizes.
The pattern is the Norse bind-rune for inner strength and protection. Bind-runes, or rune staves, are created by combining two or more runes together to convey a specific idea or intent. This bind rune incorporates the runes Ingwaz (harmony), Isa (solitude), Othala (birthright), and Algiz (divine protection). I did the rune in red scales on a background of black to symbolize courage in the face of the unknown.
The banner itself measures 13″ x 24″. It is mounted on an oak rod that is attached to a JPL (Jens Pind Linkage) chain for hanging. The overall measurements are 13.75″ x 29.75″ when hung.
